TRIBE NINE’s narrative unfolds across two mediums: the anime series that aired in 2022 and the upcoming game version set to release on February 20th. Although the anime and game share a chronological timeline—with the game taking place in Neo Tokyo roughly two years after the anime’s finale—the game tells a standalone story. New players can dive right into the adventure without needing prior knowledge of the anime.

Neo Tokyo: A City Reborn

TRIBE NINE’s setting is the futuristic Neo Tokyo—a fictional country inspired by real-life Tokyo but expanded into a network of 23 diverse cities. Each city boasts its own distinct culture and environment. Once on the brink of collapse due to widespread youth violence, the government restored order by enacting the “ＸＢ Law,” mandating that disputes be resolved through a sport known as ＸＢ (Extreme Baseball). This radical measure transformed ＸＢ into a central pillar of society.

Cities, Tribes, and the Judge Robot

In Neo Tokyo, young people form “Tribes” that operate within their respective cities. Their excellence in ＸＢ has granted them influence that rivals traditional judicial systems. An imposing “Judge Robot” governs every ＸＢ match, ensuring strict adherence to the rules and maintaining peace throughout the city.

A Transformed Neo Tokyo

In the game’s narrative, Neo Tokyo has undergone a dramatic transformation two years after the decisive battle that shaped its past. A mysterious new ruler now controls the cities, and as the influence of ＸＢ wanes, the metropolis falls back into chaos—replaced by a brutal death game known as the “Governing Rule.”

Meet Yo Kuronaka

At the heart of the game is Yo Kuronaka—a young man who awakens with no memory of his past. Rescued by the enigmatic Trash Tribe from an unknown facility, Yo is told by a childhood friend that he was once a legendary ＸＢ player. His quest to rediscover his identity and revive the fading spirit of ＸＢ drives the adventure.

The Adversaries: The Numbers

As Yo and his allies set out on their quest, they confront the “Numbers”—tyrannical leaders who have seized control of Neo Tokyo’s cities. With the traditional system of ＸＢ abandoned, each city adopts its own harsh method of conflict resolution, setting the stage for epic confrontations.

At its core, ＸＢ is a dynamic system where athleticism meets strategy. The climactic battles pit Yo and his team against the Numbers in thrilling team showdowns that combine physical prowess with narrative depth.

TRIBE NINE’s narrative is divided into chapters, each set in a different city. The initial release features chapters from “Shinagawa City” and “Minato City,” with new chapters planned for regular release.

Ch. 0: I’m Tired Of Playing The Hero

This introductory chapter sets the stage for the adventure. In “24 City”—a mysterious new location—players meet the awakened Yo and the Trash Tribe. It serves as a comprehensive tutorial, guiding players through key gameplay mechanics while establishing the narrative foundation.

Ch. 1: Hazardous Workplace

In this chapter, players venture into Shinagawa City, known for its advanced technology and orderly layout. Beneath the surface, a “business”-themed Governing Rule forces residents into relentless hard labor. Yo and his allies must confront “Numbers 1” and liberate the city from the oppressive “Execution” penalty, facing formidable challenges like the mechanical shark “S.H.A.R.K.”

Ch. 2: The Monster Within

Set in the dilapidated Minato City—the former base of the anime’s main characters—this chapter offers a rich exploration experience. Players navigate a complex city where hidden “Keys” unlock new areas. The challenge intensifies as Yo faces “Numbers 9” and contends with the heroic mecha “Brave Diver,” whose fluid attacks require precise timing and strategy. A guest character, Kazuki Aoyama, also appears to lend his support.

Beyond the core narrative and chapter structure, additional content is planned post-release. Expect side stories focusing on beloved characters and event-exclusive content that will further enrich the TRIBE NINE universe.
